Articles, Gauntlet’s Guides

I’ve been doing some thinking and I’ve decided the image galleries really need accompanying
articles to go with them. At least the official images do and most of the sprite galleries. To this end I have created an article on the Megaman PC Games. It details my experience with the PC games as well as some words on the robot masters.

Next up is a … Gauntlet’s Guides article? It’s been a while since I did me one of those. This one is on Green Lantern: In Blackest Night. Basically it goes into all the “special” rings and is sort of meant as a look-back that contrasts what’s being done today with what’s been done in the past.

The PC sprites have been updated. I actually missed a few sprites of Wily. Apparently when you die at WIly himself sprites of him jumping and groveling appear on the computer screen. Since I always cheat at that game I have never seen these sprites until now.

Speaking of sprite galleries, the index page has been merged with the overall Image Gallery using the same hack that I developed for the Specialty Galleries. It’s just pointless to leave them so separate. Speaking of which, I’ve never announced it, but the Megaman Team Christmas Cards are up. They’re from a small project made by Snakeman and Spark Chan in December. Be sure to check it all out!

Oh, and the articles on Rockman Strategy and Rockman Gold Empire have received some small updates too. RM Strategy has it’s intro video up … doubtless you’ve seen it before since Rockman Perfect Memories posted it long before I have. I just felt it was time for me to post it as well. More exciting, however, is that I have posted the game’s full script online! Unfortunately … it’s in Traditional Chinese. Yeah. I’ve also revised a few details in the introduction (the game’s not quite so rare anymore) and added in some notes on the ending that I got from reading the script. Rockman Gold Empire’s update is a never-before-seen intro video.

Galvatron Guide

Yeah …. nothing big this update either. Actually, I’m going to be really busy for the next little while so don’t expect my big update just yet.

Sorry, but RL comes first. Technically I shouldn’t even be updating *today*!

But I did. With a small, but important addition to the Gauntlet’s Guide to Galvatron MK2. I managed to find Galvatron’s original character design and from that I’ve made a few new observations. The rest of the guide has been updated accordingly.

Gauntlet’s Guide to Galvatron Mk2

With Unicron seeing a Guide, is it a surprise to find that I’ve written a new guide to Galvatron as well?? Well, it shouldn’t be!

This guide has a detailed analyses of the evolution of Galvy’s design. From his toy version, to his comic version and the TV magazine version – no stone is left unturned!

I’ve also reformatted the EXE guide and the MM3 guide to reflect the layout of the site and not to have their own layouts. Just seems more professional…

Gauntlet’s Guides

An update … to Gauntlet’s Guides!? What??

It’s true! I’ve made a new one – Gauntlet’s Guide to Ten Things you Probably Didn’t Know About Unicron. The highlight is showing which Unicron is the biggest as that is the one new and interesting bit of Transformers info I have to offer that I found out all be m’self! But there’s other factoids that are obscure and some I point out myself too.

And, why a Transformers article on a MM3 site? I say: why not?

Epilogue! Quizzes!

What? A new epilogue up? Do I even make those anymore?

Well, I haven’t made one, but Spark Chan has! Part one of her origin story has been uploaded and is ready to go!

Also, the Quizzes have all been fixed. Not the images are hosted under Photobucket, which I believe to be MUCH more stable than Planet-Megaman will EVER be. May they never need fixing again! Furthermore, the links to the Quizzes have been moved to the Nuts and Bolts section. For further cleanup, the Megaman Battle Network Guide link has been removed and can only be found in the Guides section now. So take those quizzes and read that guide!

Additionally, the site is going up and down due to PMM’s attempt at a site restoration. So, please be patient with that.

The Unnamed, Guides

The Unnamed is still underway for those who follow. Only one chapter this time, I’m afraid.

A new guide is up as well! Shocking, I know. Since most people thought I already made one, I made a guide to epilogue writing. It’s worth a read even if you don’t follow the epilogues.

Furthermore, I may as well give an official shout out for my Deviant Art account. A lot of non-Megaman work is up there, so for those interested take a gander. Also be sure to check out Snake’s, Spark’s and Top’s art galleries too!

MM X Debate

With the server going through, what I can only assume is, some tweaks and domain changes accessing FTP is a lost cause. Luckily PMM’s file manager still works.

So, time for the update! A transcribed debate I was in on the Planet Megaman forums battling Fireman (aka IHZ) about whether Megaman is X. As you all know, I believe that they are the same guy, but not everyone agrees with me! This debate featured just about every argument possible in the ongoing debate with intelligent posts from both sides! And yes it’s much more complex than “the creator of Megaman said they were different” (which he didn’t). So head on over to the Gauntlet’s Guides section and read all about it!

Sprite Tutorial and a new Epilogue

I think I’ll go with old ‘Maniacs Moments for a couple weeks. For now anyway.

Updates for this week include an addition to the Sprite Tutorial which now covers how to use paint to recolour sprite sheets and actually capturing sprites. I must say I’m disappointed more people couldn’t figure this out for themselves. But now my tutorial covers this as well, listing a program most sprinters use to capture sprites.

Another addition is a brand new epilogue. Another by Geminiman this one is inspired by Cowboy Bebop.

Guides, Wallpapers

After so much positive feedback from the “Ultimate MM3 team” project I may make a few more redesigns along those lines. But I haven’t yet.

Today’s update has a few “lost” guides. My guide to the Pokemon Anime (somewhat dated) and my guide to unnecessary translations (actually inspired by a REAL EVENT!). These guides are written at 3AM so they feature me being slightly …… annoyed. So, have fun! Both of these can be found in the “Gauntlet’s Guides” section.

The Wallpapers section has seen an update. Not only have I completed a Needleman wallpaper, but I have also added another size as I said I would once the poll tied. Yes, that’s right. TWO sized. Not 4. The stretcher on Windows isn’t THAT bad. But I do see a point to having a size larger, so there you have it.

The Wallpapers are in the Downloads section. And I think Needle’s my best work yet.

Image Gallery, Sprite Tutorial

More gift art in the “other images” section of the image gallery. Thanks, JP Pace!

I’ve also updated the Sprite Tutorial with a few more tips. I usually tweak things in that tutorial without mention, but this was a more substantial tweak as I go into what not to do in animations.

Also, it may interest you guys to know that Planet Megaman is moving. And with it the Mechanical Maniacs. And the Sinister Six too, actually. Y’know I was actually considering changing my layout for the big move, but after formatting the epilogues and the guides I have come to a conclusion: not in a million years is it worth the price of spending hours upon hours of formatting. Never. Ever.

Lemme clue you guys in on some specifics. The Mechanical Maniacs take up a hefty 172 MB. The epilogues ALONE take up 3.55 MB with 110 files in 5 folders including unreleased eps. That’s 110 files I had to go into and format. Lemme tell ya, in the most ideal circumstances, that’s STILL annoying! So no new layout THIS year!
