Walter H. "Napalmman" Garland

Technical Info
Weapons:

Millie: Walter’s main weapon of choice, or “Prom Date”. She’s an Anti Material (AM) rifle, a trumped-up sniper rifle with enough punch to penetrate buildings, aircraft and fuel dumps. She’s semi-automatic, boasts a 2000 yard range, and holds 10 shots. Some of the shots she uses are “Fireflies”, .50 mm rounds with explosives inside the bullet tip. Fireflies have just as much penetrating power as a normal round does, only they blow up when they hit their target, frigging up whatever’s inside it. They’re toasty enough to ignite jet fuel, and can burn up to thirty seconds. Usually Walter plays with fireflies, but uses normal rounds, if collateral damage is a no-no.

Joyce: A sawed-off, pump action shotgun that spreads plasma in a spread formation. Inspired by the infamous Clyde Barrow, Walter attached a looped length of string to Joyce’s butt, allowing him to conceal her under his coat, and whip her out at a moments’ notice. Due to her picky range, Walter doesn’t “date” Joyce unless there’s someone right up in his face. However, her compact, concealable form allows Walter take her with him wherever goes. “I never leave home without her,”

Apples: Plasma grenades in lamest terms. Using phosphorous chemical reactions, these grenades burn at roughly 6000 °F, making them potent enough to destroy weapons, vehicles and artillery. The chemical reaction also allows the grenades to burn underwater, without an oxygen source. The white phosphorous reactions also belches out considerable amounts of smoke, making them good for a hasty escape, or signaling his allies. However, Walter usually uses them to pick off closer enemies that Millie missed.

Hotwire: Essentially, high-tech tripwire. In actuality, they’re two magnetic pods that emit an infrared beam in between each other. Anything that passes through it gets zapped by a high surge of plasma. They also have claws mounted behind them for whenever they need to be mounted on non-ferrous crap.

Abilities:

Skin Job: Walter can shift the camo scheme of his armor, allowing him to better blend in with his surroundings. He can choose from desert, deep forest, nighttime, urban, snow, and mountain camo schemes. Crys also thought it’d be funny to throw in a purple camo scheme, but Walter still isn’t laughing.

Spider Grip: Using the same magnetic clamp technology that his hotwire uses, Walter can cling to steep or even vertical terrain without falling. He mostly uses this to snipe from positions other snipers can’t utilize. Some of his teammates like Crys like singing “SpiderWalt” while he uses this ability.

Personal Info
Name: Corporal Walter Henry Garland

Nickname(s): Walt, Incredible Hulk, Infraggable Krunk, Solid Snake, Rambo, Rad Spencer, Uncle Jimbo

Gender: Male

Age: 31

Occupation(s): Ex-marine, Part Time Machinist, Part Time Gun Shop Clerk, Bounty Hunter, Weapon Specialist, Sniper

Physical Description: 6’ 1”, 150 lbs, short brown hair, brown eyes, scar on the left side of his face, slightly buff build.

Walter’s armor’s normally decked out in a dark, almost blood-red camo scheme with a large sniper rifle slung over his back and concave-shaped shoulders. It doesn’t have as many nifty abilities as some of the other Androids, but it makes up for it by providing Walter with a wide array of eye-popping weapons. Many of the weapons he uses, such as Millie, the Apples and Hotwire are actually extensions of his own armor, most of which are stored in compartments in shoulders. He keeps ammo and clips for both his ladies in his left shoulder, and apples and hotwire in his right, though he keeps a handful of shotgun shells and apples in his coat and pants pockets for a “rainy day”. Joyce also integrates with Walter’s armor, allowing Walter to take a more “hands-free” approach by letting her whip herself out. While his armor isn’t nearly as durable is his Asshat counterpart’s it’s still remarkably durable for lightweight armor; it can stand up to a kiss from Joyce herself without a scratch to the paintjob. He also has a retractable, twin-bladed combat knife mounted on his wrist, which he mostly uses as a tool, or if he’s out of ideas.

Normal Attire: Blue cargo jeans, black shirt and a tan, desert camo jacket with corporal stripes

Character Info
Personality: At a first glance, Walter Garland may look like an ideal soldier. He’s dedicated to his job without being obsessed with it, gung-ho but not reckless, crafty, battle-hardened, has a wry sense of humor, and all without sacrificing a shred of character. He’s also a veritable guru when it comes to guns; capable of identifying, taking apart, and putting back together just about any firearm anyone gives him. In fact, he’s more than happy to use his expertise with his other teammates to devise new and original weapons, while bonding with them at the same time.

However, when he’s not in combat or tinkering with guns, he becomes withdrawn and depressed. Hopelessly in debt, living in an apartment he can barely afford, and stuck in a dead-end job, some of his closest friends believe he has trouble adapting to everyday life. The more and more past due notices he gets, the more Walter thinks they’re right. Part of the reason he joined the Ascendant Androids was to escape his dreary civilian life. In fact, the more time he spends with the Androids, the less he desires to return to his old life.

Curiously, he despises Mega Man teams, feeling that they’re dumbass civilians that raise all sorts of hell so that they can play hero. However, he feels the only thing worse than griping about the mess these teams make is doing jack shit about it. Besides, he feels that the Ascendant Androids’ mercenary lifestyle will keep them from stirring up the same kind of trouble other teams cause.

Biography: Walter first served in the marines, in the same detachment Vulcan served in and became fast friends. Together, they’ve seen action in the Gulf and Bosnia. However, Vulcan was yanked out of active duty when Crys and Tommy formed the Ascendant Androids, leaving Walter all on his lonesome. He was quickly deployed in Iraq, serving three grueling tours in Baghdad. He had the pleasure of serving his tour at the same time the Ascendant Androids laid waste to the city under Cutman’s orders. Amazingly, he survived a run-in with Captain Napalmman himself and was honorably discharged, but not before he destroyed Gyroman and shot out Plantman’s eyes. However, Walter barely had time to enjoy his depressing civilian life before Vulcan recruited him in a bar.

Likes: Guns, A good stiff drink, Making bigger and badder guns with Crys to wipe everybody out, Porn, the Hulk, Shooting People He Doesn’t Like. Not necessarily in that order.

Dislikes: Other Mega Man teams, pointless banter, Metal Gear

Goals: To make a name for himself as a weapon designer

Fun Facts
Walter has a tattoo of the Hulk on his right bicep.

Walter hates Metal Gear and will beat the crap out of anyone who makes a Solid Snake joke. “Anyone who thinks a cardboard box is a cunning disguise deserves to die…period,”

However, calling him Rad Spencer, and/or saying “Get the heck out of here, you nerd!” is good for one free beer.

Walter also likes taking lemons of every shape and size, and try to patch them up. Overall, he’s had mixed results, but his average his been getting much better.
