After the original Megaman series, Capcom made many, many Megaman. It seemed as if the Megaman series was destined to fade forever into obscurity. However, upon a new Megaman series, Capcom redesigned several Robot Masters into NAVIs for the game Rockman EXE!
After a battle with Unicron one such robot master named Sharkman was transformed into the NAVI Sharkman EXE! Using his abilities, he is able to bestow the powers of a NAVI onto willing volunteers creating a team of PETs to combat menaces that effect them directly! They are ... Viral Infection!
With the powers of the EXE NAVIs they fight for the right .... when it suits their purpose. They have the ability to enter any computer system and sift through data like we sift through a file cabinet.
The world does not fully trust our heroes yet. They are rouge Pets, and people who feel they own them are constantly trying to get a hold of them.
Created by Wily to take over the robot masters of the world, the Life Virus can infect any robot master and make him into an evil EXE version, however they are susceptible to alcohol. Life Virus want to capture Viral Infection and see what makes their forms stable enough to survive. Were he to capture the members of Viral Infection, he could correct the fault in his program and make an unstoppable army of EXE warriors!
So, they must avoid destruction by Life Virus and enslavement by those who view them as rouge NAVIs!
