The Lone Road

I stand here as one of the two remaining members of the team once
called Drastic Measures. The team once stood united against Dr.
Wily and his constant attempts to capture the team and force us
into slavery.
Then, it hits us. The events of Los Angeles and the war have taken
it's toll. Slashman and Shademan left our team in order to join
Dr. Cossack, a move that turned out to be a near fatal mistake
for Slashman and what turned out to be a fatal move for Shademan.
Then came the events of Hong Kong when Mesmerman made not only
a mockery out of our team, but he destroyed Freezeman like it was
nothing... And the worst part is that we couldn't save him. We
couldn't save him. It gnawed at the team like a rat that gnaws
on a piece of cheese.
Just as we all thought things would become better for us, the events
of Nonsteropolis came at the worst possible moment. I thought that
the others were killed in combat... But, that was far from the
truth. Some of the wounds were not even close to being fatal. The
only one they couldn't save was Cloudman, who took a massive shot
that ended up breaking his spine in three different places. They
did manage to save Burstgirl, Springman and Turboman, but I ended
up finding out that our chief of police, Crorq, demanded that Dr.
Sonderham shut them down before they screw up any more missions
for the RPD or he would be fired himself. Sonderham had no choice
and shut all three of them down before I left for Berlin.
The nerve of that overbearing microwave! It's his fault that the
others were heading for the scrap heap. All this team did was try
our best so we wouldn't have that negitive feeling following us
like the plague. It just seems that everywhere we go, bad things
follow. Even with Slashman rejoining me, there was that negitive
feeling...
So, now as we stand on the outskirts of Tech City, the two of us
are going hit that lonely road and see what we can do. Yeah, Slashman
is a good guy and is great to have around, but I always wonder
'what if?' What if the others weren't shut down by Crorq because
of our failures? What if we all banded together in the beginning?
I guess those are issues better left to those who want to deal
with them. As for us... Well, let's just say that the lone road
waits for no man or robot.
