Legend of the Star Stones

Story Arc- issues: N/A

In the Wild Arctic Zone on Polar Island, Dr. Abrams oversees the group preparing for their expedition into the zone, while in the relative safety of the Jim Vector Building in Mechanopolis. Pyro complains on having to explore a cold and desolate zone, instead of the Volcanic Zone on Magmastone Island. Chris rolls his eyes and saying, “At least we’re exempt from school this week.” As he smiles at Bobby looking forward to spending the remainder of the week snowboarding. Later as the reach the peak of the first hill Pyro makes a telescope/image enhancer and finds a mysterious entrance to some sort of “ice temple” knowing only way down Chris pulls out the snowboards and challenges the rest to a race downhill.

Although he outmatches the rest of the group in speed Pyro creates a jet attachment and races along side with Chris until they both see a chasm Pyro manages to jump off his board and let it go flying into the sky and explode. However Chris can’t break in time, before he can fall into the chasm Pyro constructs a bridge where Chris softly lands in a snow bank. Bobby and Astria congratulate Pyro for a daring rescue, while Chris screams to for help. “Yeesh, what an ingrate” thinks Pyro as they pull him out along with a blue stone that reacts weirdly to Pyro. According to the readings on Astria’s palmtop computer it’s emitting some weird energies but she says that it needs to be taken back to the Vector Building for more analysis. However the entrance to the temple is straight ahead of them, the communications link to Glen is reopened and the proceed by entering the temple…

(Design note: Make the temple like the Ice level in the original Spyro the Dragon)

After checking the temple out the find a room where another stone like the one they found in the snow bank only it was jet black. Pyro starts to stir, but no one notices, when Astria analyzes it and sees it’s acting negatively to the blue stone. Suddenly Pyro starts to panic, Astria barely notices the rumbling then realizes why Pyro’s in distress. There’s an earthquake happening and it’s getting bigger, the black stone falls off its pedestal and shatters while the team dodges debris and gets out of the entrance barely. The others catch their breath and tell Glen that they couldn’t retrieve the Black stone. Meanwhile in the cave… black goo oozes from the shattered shards on the Black Stone then forms a black figure slowly moving out of the cave.

About a week later in the Vector building Glen analyzes the stone and gets energy readings that are off the scale. However they found a new name for it, the Star Stone because a small, blue star was found glowing within it. Whenever Pyro gets near it he acts strange babbling about an ancient prophecy of impending doom, they dismiss as a prank but he gets more irritated as he gets close to it. Later that night Pyro hops from building to building as he notices a black blob terrorizing the streets quickly he jumps of the building and lands in front of the beast. The beast in a gravely voice mumbles… “The chosen one” and swats him into a shop window. Pyro makes a pair of laser cannons and blasts the beast before ramming full speed into his the glowing membrane of the beast. Obviously hurting it, the beast changes tactics and stretches his limbs and spins slashing up the streets however Pyro dodges easily and aims for the glowing membrane again but gets spun into a building just as the beast thrusts it’s claw around Pyro’s neck. It mutters “Now you will die chosen one”, he notices Pyro look up. When he looks up he sees a 16-ton weight above him and panics was the weight pummels him back to Earth. Pyro floats back down above the beast, now too weak to fight slides into a sewer.

When the “Mighty Freaks” arrive they found Pyro looking into a storm drain amidst the chaos. Went confronting Pyro he mumbles to Bobby, “He called me chosen one” utters Pyro as the rest of the team surrounds him. Chris laughs it off as his a joke, like his prophecies of impending doom only to get a quick “SHUT UP!” from the rest of the team. They take him back to the Vector Building to carry out a test, when the bring the Blue Star Stone they retrieved from the Wild Arctic Zone, Pyro seems possessed by the jewel and continues the vision of impending doom.

“The beast from the Black Star Stone is the one known as Blackstar, his mission is to destroy the Star Stones and the chosen one from whose body I am speaking from. Go to the Star Stone before Blackstar for he is growing more and more powerful by every minute.”
Ten Pyro faints from the shock as Bobby and Chris say “Whoa! Intense.”  Astria picks up to tired body of Pyro and carries him to his quarters. Glen is intrigued that with the Terraformer, Pyro was able to create such powerful talismans. However the bigger question is where the Star Stones are. However many of the islands are inhabited so if there were any temples on those islands he would know the next morning. However Astria is feeling a weird sensation, as if she is feeling the very energy of a Star Stone nearby. When Pyro wakes up he notices his descendant also can feel the energies like he can. Surprised, says yes, she knows that they must go to Magmastone Island tomorrow and tells him to go to sleep with Pyro repling sarcastically “Yes, mother” and she throws a pillow at him.
